Social Theory & Practice Program Honors Thesis

University of Michigan Residential College

  • Conducted an in-depth research study entitled "Examining Curricular Design for Educational Equity: Intentional Practices in Early Education Aiming to Disrupt Systemic Inequity.

  • Collected data through interviews, surveys, and observational analysis of early education curricula.

  • Presented research findings through a well-organized and articulate honors thesis, engaged in critical discussions with faculty advisors and peers, and successfully defended the honors thesis before a panel.

 

Education Nonprofit Intern, ‘Telling It’ Program

Ypsilanti Community Middle School

  • Implemented arts- and play-based intervention programming with students between 6th and 8th grade.

  • Fostered empowering spaces for students coping with various degrees of trauma such as home and food insecurity, bullying, COVID-19 stressors, and a high level of violence at home or in their community.

  • Coordinated with fellow interns and organization faculty to plan and fund programming at various Telling It sites.

 

Choreographer & Academic Tutor

Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy

  • Organized academic materials, streamlined previous lesson plans, and held weekly classes and workshops.

  • Facilitated a 1.5 average letter grade improvement with students ranging from 6th to 12th grade.

  • Choreographed annual middle- and high-school musical productions with an average cast size of 62 students.
